We’ve done a lot of talking about denim skirts recently – here and here- and it’s been fun! : ) This week I’m collaborating with some friends – Jana T and Krista and Chantel – to share pictures and ideas for wearing denim skirts. And I want YOU to join in the fun and share YOUR denim skirt style too!

“This is my favourite way of wearing denim skirts, but I must admit that it is NOT the most creative or feminine way! : ) This is an example of the good ol’ jeans and hoodie option for a girl who likes to wear denim skirts. It’s strong on ‘comfy’ and ‘cosy’!”

5 Denim Skirt Tips
by Chantel
1. Every day life has a variety of demands and often unexpected experiences. Denim is up for pretty much anything your average or above average adventures that comes with simply living.
2. Because of its long lasting sort of a nature, you can depend on denim to stick around when other materials fail.
3. You can cut it up and sew it together in countless ways to get countless styles for many occasions. They even make what seems like countless colors these days! And denim is one of the easiest fabrics to sew on that I know of.
4.You can dress denim up or dress it down. You can wear it as a jacket with skirts from khaki to floral and as a skirt with t-shirts or dress shirts. It may not be the solution for every single occasion, (and even this practical country girl loves to really dress up once in a while) but a little creativity can really expand the uses and possibilities of a simple thing like denim.
5. Prints can go in and out of style. Big flowers may be in one day and small the next. Stripes come and go, but denim is classic in that while the styles and cuts may change, the fabric itself will always have a place in style.

“I’ve always loved denim skirts. From ankle length in the winter, to knee length in the summer, denim is cute, versatile and modest! I managed to snag a modest denim skirt from Motherhood Maternity; paid a bit more than I wanted, but it’s good quality and worth it.”

5 Denim Skirt Tips
by Jana
1. Dressing up a denim skirt is as easy as 1-2-3! Pick a neutral color sweater (or shirt), then dress it up with a scarf and a pair of cute shoes. My favorite is a Mary Jane type. Earrings can also be added.
2. Denim jackets are nice, but more as an accent. It’s hard to match with a denim skirt unless bought in a set. Again, paired with a scarf (or necklace) can be very adorable.
3. White denim has a unique look, that I love for the summer time. Pair it with a dressy blouse for church. Just be careful, as (like anything white) it picks up dirt and marks easily.
4. I like black denim for the dressier look, and regular denim for everyday wear. Also, styles in skirts vary so try on various types and see what looks best on your body. It is possible to be modest, feminine and stylish!
5. This is a neat website: www.denimskirts.com! Under the Denim Skirts section they have many, many cute skirts (A-line, pencil, ruffled, simple) with decent prices. Lots of ideas too, if you’re into sewing.

“I’m actually NOT a classy dresser, so this outfit doesn’t look as stunning as it could – but it’s a start and there are lots of other possibilities. A long cardigan is VERY flattering (I didn’t think of that while we were taking these pictures!) or so is a hat (I’m not posting the picture of me in THAT outfit because I look like Miss Potter!!!) – both add a touch of elegance.”

“I like to call this my take on a ‘western’ look. I love my cowboy boots and scarves.
Personally, the pencil skirt style is my favorite.”

Lovely outfits!
I practically live in jean skirts during the summer months. They can be dressed down with flip flops or dressed up with a cut pair of boots. Fun outfits.
The Denim Skirt Party has been such fun and so neat that other people have joined in … scarves must definitely be ‘in’ at the moment!
