One of the fun things I did in Bath was visit a part of the city, right down at the bottom of the hill and at the back of the abbey, that I’ve never visited before – Pulteney Street and Laura Place – which is where “our cousins the Dalrymples” stay in “Persuasion“.

Pulteney Bridge is a remarkable bridge, lined on either side with shops, pretty on one side (this side!) and not on the other …


I walked over Pulteney Bridge, between the shops on either side of the bridge, along the tiny stretch of road called Argyle Street and into Laura Place.

On the way back from Laura Place, through Argyle Street, I passed Grove Street – from which it’s possible to see the buildings of the Circus (I think! : ) ) peeping out from the leaves of the trees on the hill …

And, opposite me the whole time I was filming, was this painted window:

Isn’t it lovely? I thought it was – and realistic too. And then I was back on Pulteney Bridge …
